Partnering To Build A New Library

For the Greater Walker Community

Friends of the

Walker Public Library

Friends of the Walker Public Library is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the library in making information, books, and programs available to the public.

Formed in 2002 by Karen Keener, we are a small but mighty group. Our purpose is to help provide funding for library activities and services not funded by the City of Walker, the Kitchigami Regional Library System, and the surrounding townships.

Build A New Library

The Greater Walker Community is building a new library. The current library has been in temporary quarters in the lower level of the American National Bank building for the past two years, in a space that is half the size of the previous building.

While the community has been able to raise part of the funds to build the new library thanks to several generous donations, we believe we’ll need to raise an additional $1M to complete the project. We desperately need support from the community, surrounding townships, businesses and our seasonal neighbors to make the new library a reality.

Become A Friend

Become a member of the Friends of the Walker Public Library! We are a group of people with a strong passion to support our community and LOVE our local library. The Friends meet monthly from May through August to discuss upcoming Friends events and explore ways to support our local library and community. Now that plans are moving forward with building a new Walker Public Library, we are hoping to get more year-round members to join our group.

We welcome all individuals to join, whether you're part of a club, organization, parent of a youngster, or just someone who is willing to contribute their time to the library and community.
